Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 9, 2026
zerotake is built to respect your privacy. This page explains what the app does with your information — and, mostly, what it does not do.
Who we are
zerotake is made by Zero Camera Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (number 17254277) at Flat 53 White House, Vicarage Crescent, London SW11 3LH. Zero Camera Ltd is the data controller for the app. You can reach us any time at hello+zerotake@zerocam.app.
Data we collect
We do not collect, store, or share any personal data. zerotake has no accounts, no sign-in, and no server of ours for your videos to be sent to. Everything you record stays on your device and in your own photo library.
Camera, microphone and video
zerotake asks for your camera to show a live preview and to record video, and for your microphone to record sound and to listen while you read, so the teleprompter can follow your voice. It asks to save to your photo library so your recordings are yours to keep, and to read videos you choose to load as cassettes. All of it — the video, the sound, and the speech recognition that scrolls the teleprompter — happens on your device. Your voice is transcribed by Apple’s on-device recognizer and is never sent to us or to any server.
Location
If you allow it, zerotake tags each video with where you recorded it, inside the video’s own metadata, exactly as the built-in camera does, so Photos can show your clips on a map. It reads your location only while you are recording, to about ten metres, and stores it only inside your own video. It is never sent to us or to anyone else. You can refuse or withdraw this at any time, in the app’s settings or your device settings, and the app keeps working without it.
Your tapes and iCloud
zerotake keeps the structure of each tape — the order of its takes, its name and a small cover image — in your own private iCloud, so that if you reinstall the app on the same Apple Account your tapes come back. This is Apple’s iCloud, tied to your Apple Account: we have no access to it and never see it. The recordings themselves are not synced this way; they live in your photo library. If iCloud is turned off for zerotake in your device settings, nothing is synced.
Email updates
The only personal information we ever hold is an email address you choose to send us — for example, to get zerotake updates. We use it only to send those updates and to reply, and we never share it. If you ever want us to stop, just send an email to hello@zerocam.app asking not to receive more updates — we’ll delete your address and won’t contact you again.
Purchases
Subscriptions and in-app purchases are processed by Apple. We never see your payment details. We use RevenueCat to keep track of whether a subscription is active; it handles only limited, anonymised purchase information (such as transaction and subscription status) on our behalf and cannot identify you personally.
Analytics and tracking
zerotake contains no analytics, no advertising, no third-party trackers and no cookies. We do not track you across apps or websites, and the app carries no advertising identifier.
Third-party services
The only third parties involved are Apple (app distribution and payments) and RevenueCat (subscription management). You can read RevenueCat’s privacy policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, the UK GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act you have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of any personal data we hold about you, and to object to how it is used. In practice the only thing we could ever hold is an email address you sent us yourself. Write to hello+zerotake@zerocam.app and we will act on your request. We do not sell or share personal information, and we never have. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children’s privacy
zerotake does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children. Because the app collects nothing, there is nothing about a child for us to hold.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will always be published on this page, with a new date at the top.
